The Grand Kibitzer, a commission

This is a commission I did in March of 2023. The Grand Kibitzer is an NPC court advisor with a wily way about him, and a penchant for the exotic.

I kind of like the quirky factor in this drawing, of which it has much.

Farewell at the Grey Havens, for Tolkientober

The Tolkientober Day 30 prompt was FAREWELLS, and Inktober Day 30 was RUSH. I wanted to combine the two...enter the classic album by Rush. Based on a famous image by Ted Nasmith, I used inspiration for other characters in the scene created by other famous artists (Party Mix).

Sorcery, for Tolkientober

Shortly after discovering Inktober, I discovered Tolkientober (on Twitter). For the prompt SORCERY it was brought to my mind an image of Saruman standing in Orthanc, his tower of sorcery, surrounded by swirling mist, as he gazes out his window at Barad-dur in the distance. In the foreground rests a Palantir, dominated by the fire-ringed eye of Sauron.

Demon, for Inktober

I try to draw every day. Impossible! This is a Demon I drew for Inktober 2023, Day 17. Technically, he is a "Type VI" demon, if you must know, and he might go by the name of "Balor".

Felicia Day, slashy style

Here is nerdqueen Felicia Day in my slashy style. I did this one in 2021, it is quite large!

FROOSH, One Funky Monk

A Happy Birthday ink drawing for Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frussciante. This is a based loosely on my pencil slashy style, simplified so I could knock it out quickly.

Happy Birthday, D&D, '74

Happy Birthday to Dungeons & Dragons, the OG Roleplaying Game, born (first published) in 1974. To commemorate this event, this is a piece I did based upon the cover art gracing the original rulebooks.

Drew Barrymore, slashy style

This drawing of Drew Barrymore (early 90s) was my failed attempt at hatching. I missed this day in art class, and the teacher didn't have time to explain the concept to me. I saw Drew on a magazine cover and this was my attempt at the homework.

Hand of Reaching

An interior art piece I did for "Flipping & Turning" magazine (issue no. 13). I added the words later, as a river, after I saw how my illustration was put to use. I loved the flow so wanted to try and capture it.

Dave Arneson

I drew this when i was reminded it was the birthday of Dave Arneson a couple days ago. He doesn't get nearly the press that Gary Gygax gets, but he is the co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons . Without him, the game as it exists - would not.

Flipping & Turning

This is the cover of issue #12 of "Flipping & Turning", an excellent old-school D&D magazine by Smoldering Dung Games. The theme was jousting, but I couldn't resist the lure to add some Monty Python easter eggs.

The Professor

J.R.R. Tolkien has had, and continues to have a profound effect on my life. Today, September 2, 2023, marks the 50th year since his passing. We shall not look upon his like again, I am pretty sure.

Elijah signed a copy of this piece a couple months ago. He bows to no one.

Master of Dungeons and Dragons

E. Gary Gygax was a master gamesman. He taught me how to tell a story from the hip. He was a genius.

Estian

Estian is a tall mage with a short temper that I drew as a commission.
